What type of service will this trailer need?

**If GVWR IS GREATER THAN 3000 lbs

In Pennsylvania, an annual state inspection is required for trailers with a GVW over 3000 lbs – There are many items checked for state inspection. These include tire tread depth, brakes, lights, hubs, breakaway kit, frame, and other body components. Additional maintenance items include greasable points on doors, cylinders, ramp gates, battery voltage, tongue jacks, roof sealant, and wood decks to name a few. All Pro Trailer Superstore offers yearly state inspection services on trailers that qualify and general safety inspections for units under the GVW requirements for trailers. To schedule an appointment, please contact our service department.

**If GVWR IS LESS THAN 3000 lbs

In Pennsylvania, annual state inspection is not required for trailers with a GVW less than 3000 lbs – depending on how often the trailer is being used it is a good idea to check tire pressure, bearing grease, lugnuts, wiring, trailer plus, battery if applicable, and greasable points on doors, cylinders, ramp gates. All Pro Trailer Superstore offers yearly state inspection services on trailers that qualify and general safety inspections for units under the GVW requirements for trailers. To schedule an appointment, please contact our service department.

Will my tow vehicle pull this trailer? Or what kind of tow vehicle will I need?

Each trailer is unique; however, our trained staff can provide guidance and research on your tow vehicle with the trailer of your choice. To get started, submit a Check the Availability form for the trailer you’re interested in or contact us for more information. Please remember when filling out the form to put your current tow vehicle.

What type of license would be required for this trailer?

Licensing is determined by several factors. First, examine this flow chart to help determine what license is required based on GVW. In this context, it is a combination of one part tow vehicle and one part trailer. Therefore, your license is dependent on your tow vehicle as much as it is the trailer you are interested in. Another factor to consider is whether your trailer will be used for commercial or business purposes. If so, you will need a DOT number. Use this flow chart to determine if a DOT number is required. Based on the variances of tow vehicles and trailer options, for a final determination it’s best to contact your local DOT.
